Quad Cities-based IMEG continues to expand its geographic reach and capabilities, announcing on Tuesday, April 1, that WRK Engineers has joined the company’s fold.
Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, WRK Engineers is a leading structural and seismic engineering firm. This partnership, IMEG said in a news release, significantly strengthens IMEG’s seismic engineering capabilities while expanding its portfolio of specialized services. The latest expansion also reinforces IMEG’s commitment to delivering innovative, community-resilient design solutions nationwide, the company said.
Financial details of the transaction, effective Tuesday, were not disclosed.
The deal comes on the heels of a pair of acquisitions made last month by IMEG. On Monday, Feb. 3, IMEG announced it had acquired SSI Consulting, LLC, a national leader in the design and inspection of silos and bulk handling facility layouts, and Boston-based Warner Larson, a leading landscape architecture firm specializing in community-focused and sustainable site design.
The WRK Engineers’ 14-person staff will join IMEG, and continue operations from Vancouver. The firm will operate as WRK Engineers, now IMEG. Brian Knight, WRK Engineers president, now will serve as client executive for the team.
“We are excited to join IMEG and extend our impact on seismic safety and structural resilience at a national level,” Mr. Knight, who now serves as client executive, said in the release. “Our team is passionate about advancing earthquake engineering practices. This partnership enables us to scale that impact, access new resources, and deliver innovative, value-driven solutions to a broader range of clients and communities.”
Founded in 2010, WRK Engineers has rapidly built a reputation for advancing the science of seismic engineering. The firm specializes in seismic risk reduction, offering in-depth seismic evaluations, advanced structural analysis, retrofit design, and resiliency planning for critical infrastructure and essential facilities.
According to an IMEG company spokesman, IMEG has been offering seismic engineering services to its clients for many years, primarily through its structural teams at the west coast offices.
IMEG said that WRK also brings a proven track record in Owner’s Representative/Construction Manager services, along with extensive experience as the prime design consultant leading multi-disciplinary project design teams. It also provides comprehensive grant writing services that have helped clients secure nearly $100 million in project funding over the past five years – demonstrating a deep commitment to turning vision into reality by aligning technical excellence with financial strategy, the release said.
“WRK Engineers brings an exceptional depth of expertise in seismic and earthquake engineering, which is an immediate and strategic value-add to IMEG,” said IMEG President/CEO Paul VanDuyne. “Their advanced capabilities in seismic risk evaluation and retrofit design, along with their success as a trusted client advocate and funding resource, are highly complementary to IMEG’s multidisciplinary approach.”
WRK Engineers’ experience spans a broad range of sectors including housing, healthcare, education, water/wastewater, and utilities – many of which require specialized seismic analysis to meet safety and performance standards. The firm’s portfolio includes risk assessments for essential service facilities, seismic retrofit designs for historic and aging structures, and performance-based engineering solutions.
IMEG is a leading national engineering design firm with 100 offices and 3,000+ team members. It is ranked among the top U.S. engineering firms (No. 3 on BD+C’s Top Engineering Firms and No. 52 on ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms.)
