United Way Quad Cities is now accepting appointments for its volunteer tax preparation services.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program helps thousands of local individuals and families prepare their income taxes free of charge.

Tax preparation is offered in person primarily by appointment, with an option for walk-in services, from Feb. 1 through April 12. For further information about VITA, email Max Bigalk at mbigalk@unitedwayqc.org or call 344-0352. To schedule a tax preparation appointment, go here.

Individuals and families who earned up to $64,000 last year and are residents of Scott or Rock Island counties can schedule an appointment or click here to learn more.

Appointments are limited and are expected to fill quickly. Last year, VITA helped 3,301 Quad Citizens with their returns with $3,082,917 in federal refund dollars.
