This year’s program features top employment law professionals sharing practical guidance on the latest Iowa-specific legislation, regulatory changes, and key court decisions affecting employers today.
Some of the sessions will include:
- Charting a Safe Course Through the Bermuda Triangle of the FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation: Employee leave and injury issues often trigger overlapping obligations under the FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation laws, creating compliance challenges for employers. This session provides a practical roadmap for identifying which laws apply, when they may run concurrently, and where common missteps occur. Attendees will gain actionable guidance for spotting the need for leave, managing it, accommodations, and return-to-work decisions while minimizing legal risk.
- High-Stakes Employer Compliance: Drug-Free Iowa Meets Cannabis-Friendly Illinois: Employers operating across state lines often face conflicting workplace compliance requirements: This session will explore the intersection of Iowa’s drug-free workplace law and Illinois’ recreational cannabis protections, highlighting the challenges employers face when managing policies, testing programs, and employee expectations across both states. Attendees will gain practical guidance for developing compliant, consistent workplace policies while navigating an increasingly complex legal landscape.
The event is also scheduled to have a presentation on AI in the workplace.
