SEAL Family Legacy hosts Gold Star business, awareness event

The Quad Cities nonprofit SEAL Family Legacy (SFL) will hold its second annual Gold Star Legacy Business Event on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.

SEAL Family Legacy works to raise awareness for military members killed in service to our country and to raise funds to help the fallen soldiers’ children.

The Gold Star Legacy Business Event will be from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Davenport fairgrounds’ Keppy 4-H Hall. Area businesses are invited to attend the networking and awareness event. The event will feature two veterans:

  • Leo Kaalberg II, a two-time Purple Heart award recipient and retired Army veteran who served four tours of combat in Iraq.
  • U.S. Navy SEAL (retired) David Gutierrez.

Participants will also have the opportunity to learn who the SEAL Family Legacy beneficiary families will be for 2023 as well as learn about upcoming SFL events and programs. The event will include free food and a cash bar will be available.

Businesses are encouraged to attend and can RSVP here.

The business event kicks off SFL’s activities for 2023 with more events planned this summer.

SFL specifically serves Gold Star military families with children – selecting a minimum of one to three families each year (including a Navy SEAL family) as a beneficiary family. At least one regionally local family (from across the Quad Cities and surrounding areas) will be selected along with families from other states.

SFL is a 100% volunteer organization and donations go directly to the families they serve.
