QCBJ accepting Forty Under 40 nominations

The Quad Cities Regional Business Journal is now accepting nominations for its 2023 Forty Under 40 awards.

The awards and a recognition event will honor 40 young professionals who are making a difference in the Quad Cities region – in their workplaces, through their charitable work or in their communities. The dinner event will be Thursday, Aug. 24.

“Last year’s event was amazing. We had over 500 people attend that event, which illustrated that we tapped into an important need to recognize young leaders in the Quad Cities,” said John F. Lohman, CEO and president of the Corridor Media Group, which publishes the QCBJ. “Last year’s honorees also donated $8,400 to the United Way of the Quad Cities as part of their speeches.”

Nominations have already begun and the awards are open to any deserving young professional who will be under the age of 40 as of Aug. 24, 2023. Nominees must reside or work in the QCBJ’s news coverage area, which includes Scott, Muscatine and Clinton counties in Iowa or Rock Island, Henry and Mercer counties in Illinois.

Candidates can be self-nominated or be nominated by a boss, colleague or others. To make a nomination, fill out the QCBJ nomination form at quadcitiesbusiness.com under the Events tab. Nominations require basic biographical information including a resume or bio as well as a statement of qualifications and one or more letters of recommendation. All nominations must be submitted online by June 1.

A selection committee — made up of a group of the 2022 40 Under 40 honorees — will select this year’s class based on their civic/philanthropic activities. The committee will choose a minimum of 15 honorees from Iowa and Illinois.

Elected officials are eligible for the recognition, but the awards are nonpartisan and nonpolitical.

“We are hopeful that these awards will continue to serve an important purpose of recognizing and celebrating young leaders, especially as the region embarks on the important role of trying to attract and retain workers,” said Mr. Lohman.

The awards are presented by the QCBJ, a publication of the North Liberty, Iowa-based Corridor Media Group. The event is sponsored by our Platinum Sponsor, Augustana College; and Gold Sponsors Genesis and RSM. The QCBJ launched the recognition event in 2022, and we celebrated our first class of Forty Under 40 honorees at a banquet and awards dinner late last year. For 2023, the event has been moved up in the calendar year and will be held Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center in downtown Bettendorf.

The awards dinner will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Aug. 24, at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center. Cost is $65 for an individual and $480 for a table of eight. Selected honorees will be given a complimentary ticket.
