Illinois State Rep. Gregg Johnson, D-East Moline, looked over a new health care clinic in Moline on Thursday, Dec. 14, and liked what he saw.
In fact, he called that new clinic – Oak St. Health, located at 1996 First St. A – a great step forward for Moline that will help many people get needed medical care.
“It’s an impactful day for us. … I’m just over the moon about this,” Mr. Johnson said during a grand opening and Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony for Oak St., which is a health care network of clinics serving primarily adults on Medicare.
Oak St. Health’s new clinic is located in City Line Plaza shopping center, which includes a Jewel Osco store and a Rent-A-Center store.
During Thursday’s ceremony, which attracted about 40 people from the business community, the state representative told the crowd that residents in the community now have another health care option. That means many of them can now get care near their homes instead of driving miles to another health facility.
“I’m going to a housing (opening event) after this. …. So, today is the day of three Hs – health care, housing and hope,” he added.
Oak Street Health delivers personalized, preventive primary care through a model that was created to meet the unique needs of older adults. The integrated model incorporates behavioral health care and social determinants support and is easily accessible through a mix of in-center, in-home and telehealth appointments, as well as a 24/7 patient support line.
