With $6.8 million in renovations and upgrades nearing completion, Riverside Riverslide is on the hunt for a new crew to staff the Moline aquatics facility this summer.

In a news release on Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Moline Parks and Recreation Department said it is hiring lifeguards and other positions to work at Riverside Riverslide, which is expected to reopen in May.

The jobs that need filled include: lifeguards, who will earn $16 an hour, which Moline said makes it one of the highest paid lifeguard positions; management/leadership, $16-$18 an hour; and cashiers and food prep, $15 an hour.

Employee benefits include free certifications, paid time to complete certification, recruitment incentives and a Staff Recognition Program.

The city’s hiring announcement comes just a week after the City of Bettendorf said the opening of its new aquatics center, The Landing, has been pushed back from this summer until 2025.

Crews began work on the Moline attraction last April, when the city hosted an official groundbreaking for the 3300 5th Ave. amenity. As of this summer, Riverside Riverslide will sport a variety of updates and new features including three new water slides, a lazy river, splash pad, new shade structures, updated concessions, night-time lights, a shared park shelter and family restrooms.

At the ceremony last year, Parks Director Eric Griffith described the future city aquatic center as “a once-in-a-generation facility.”

The release said that the partnership between Moline parks and Two Rivers YMCA will continue  when the new facility opens. Two Rivers YMCA members will have full access to the  improved Riverside Riverslide as part of their membership, with no additional cost.

Moline will continue to provide construction updates on the Riverside Riverslide project on its social media. For more information, visit Moline Parks and Recreation’s website, its Facebook page, Twitter (@MolineParks), Instagram (@MolineParks) and YouTube.
