LeClaire Chamber celebrates milestone year in 2022

The LeClaire Chamber of Commerce celebrated several new economic development wins and shined a spotlight on its existing businesses at its annual meeting Saturday night, Jan. 28. 

More than 100 chamber members and supporters gathered for the dinner and awards event held at the Davenport Country Club.

The business organization had plenty to celebrate after 2022 saw many new developments emerge in the river town including the opening of a new Kwik Star, Fareway’s plans to bring a full-service grocery back to LeClaire as well as a other new businesses including Root 67, a redevelopment that breathed new life into a long vacant storefront and brought new retail to the downtown.  

During the chamber festivities, these annual awards were presented: 

Volunteer of the Year – Rob Cain and Connie Allen (tie). 

Event of the Year – Christmas in LeClaire.

The Golden Pineapple Customer Service Award – Bela/Tammy Danielson.

The Brick and Mortar Award – Root 67, Kim and Rodney Collier.

Spirit of LeClaire Award – Tammy Danielson/Bela.

Edward B. deSilva Award – LeClaire Mayor Dennis Gerard.  The award is named for the chamber’s late founder, who also served as LeClaire’s general counsel and chamber president. 

The chamber also reported that Rob Danielson and Lynet Cobler were re-elected to the board and Alixx Boynton was voted in recently as its newest member. She and Alysia Huffman, the digital manager, make up the chamber’s staff. 

Other board members include: Robert Cain, president; Deb Mulvania, vice president; Mike Clingingsmith, treasurer; Dr. Crystal Beusing, secretary; and board members: Bill Bloom and Emily Gwin.
