UnityPoint Health–Trinity presents health event focussing on preventing dementia

UnityPoint Health–Trinity presents its second community education series about preventing dementia and promoting healthy lifestyle habits in Muscatine, Iowa.

The free, in-person health series will be led by Dr. Hamid Sagha, UnityPoint Clinic Mulberry – Internal Medicine. It will be from 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Musser Public Library, Room 301, 408 East 2nd St.

“We are giving people the tools and resources to help improve brain health and memory,” Dr. Sagha said in a news release. “There’s no better way to engage with people in the Muscatine community than by bringing them together to focus on improving their health.”

The event has free admission. To RSVP, call (563) 264-9482, or email Angelia.Koppe@unitypoint.org; or register here

The first event in the series, held in January and titled “How to Prevent Dementia and Stay Safely Home,” was well attended and will be available online for those who weren’t able to attend. The discussion focused on how healthy lifestyle choices can help prevent, delay or even reverse memory loss at any age and improve the ability to complete everyday tasks.

This next presentation will be  “How Exercise Can Prevent Dementia and Improve Memory.”

“Physical activity is important to stay not only physically fit, but mentally fit as well,” said Dr. Sagha. “Regular exercise can help offset the signs of dementia by keeping the blood flowing and increasing chemicals that protect the brain and keep it healthy.”
