IMEG Corp. acquires Barker Structural engineering firm

The Quad Cities-based IMEG Corp. announced on Monday, Dec. 5, it has acquired Barker Structural, a San Antonio and Las Vegas-based structural engineering firm.

The acquisition, which was completed Thursday, Dec. 1, added another 11 team members to IMEG’s structural group, which now includes more than 300 team members.

Founded in 2010, Barker Structural has provided sustainable and cutting-edge structural engineering design services on a wide variety of projects in the commercial, education, gaming, government, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, and multi-family markets.

“We are excited to add the team from Barker Structural and deepen our bench of expertise,”  IMEG President/CEO Paul VanDuyne said in a news release. “Their passion for the built environment, along with their creative and technical skills, are vital characteristics that match IMEG’s own priorities.”

VanDuyne added that the team’s structural capabilities complement IMEG’s full-service capabilities across the country.

Barker Structural co-founder and Principal Kris Barker said his firm is excited to become part of IMEG and help drive continued growth.

He will serve as a project executive with IMEG. The firm’s employees will continue to operate out of its existing San Antonio and Las Vegas locations, doing business as Barker Structural, now IMEG, until full integration.

It is the latest acquisition for IMEG, which completed about five acquisitions in 2022.  IMEG is headquartered in west Rock Island.

The 100% employee-owned IMEG is a leading U.S.-based engineering design firm that is results-driven with a passion for transforming environments and communities through high-performance design and infrastructure.
