Global agriculture giant John Deere was announced today as the presenting sponsor of the upcoming Major League Baseball game between the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies at Iowa’s famous Field of Dreams.

The 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams game is set for Thursday, Aug. 13, on the famous film site in Dyersville, Iowa, of the famous 1989 movie, Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Costner.

The baseball contest marks the third MLB game to take the field among the rolling cornfields of eastern Iowa since the inaugural professional game in 2021. It also will be the first to be played at the new permanent Field of Dreams Ballpark. Opened this summer, the ballpark will be home for MLB and collegiate events. The venue replaces the temporary 8,000-seat stadium built to host the MLB’s first games in 2021 and 2022.

In a news release made available on Monday, July 20, the MLB announced John Deere’s sponsorship of next month’s game. The game celebrates the longstanding connection between baseball, agriculture, and rural America. Rooted in hard work, resilience, and stewardship of the land, these traditions have shaped the region for generations and continue to bring people together both on and off the field.

“Few places better capture the values that have shaped farming communities for generations than Field of Dreams,” Jen Hartmann, John Deere’s director of Brand Management, said. “This event shines a national spotlight on the values that define farming communities; hard work, resilience, and a deep connection to the land. We’re proud to partner with MLB to honor those roots and create opportunities to make a positive impact.”

    Combatting hunger

The Moline-based John Deere and the MLB also announced plans to host a volunteer meal-packing event in conjunction with the game. In collaboration with MLB Together, the organization’s community outreach platform, John Deere and MLB will co-host the event to unite John Deere employees, dealers, and customers in the packing of about 260,000 meals for families across Iowa. The project also is in coordination with River Bend Food Bank, based in Davenport.

In addition to the volunteers’ local impact,  the John Deere Foundation is continuing its commitment to feeding the hungry in and beyond Iowa. Through Big Hits, Bigger Impact, the foundation has pledged to donate 1 million meals to Feeding America. The campaign also honors the work of farmers while helping provide meals to families across the country.

As presenting sponsor, John Deere will be integrated throughout the MLB at Field of Dreams game experience, from the event’s national campaigns and game broadcast to immersive fan experiences onsite.
