The restaurant’s website was still calling the business a place of “fine dining, redefined” with “wild recipes, adventurous spirits, interesting characters.” Some current menu items included apple pork roll, lobster jambalaya and beef tip gnocchi. The restaurant had its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. When it opened, The Garrison was described as a steakhouse with a private speakeasy in the back of the business. It had a Prohibition-era look and feel. The restaurant had dark walls, plush chairs, a piano and lounge area. At that time, the centerpiece was an antique black Ford car (with a 1925 license plate) tucked into a corner near its front entrance. When it opened, Mr. Albertson said the new restaurant had about 86 employees, and the restaurant project was about a $2.7 million investment to renovate the property.Business leaders also called The Garrison a “shining star” for the renaissance of downtown Davenport.
