The Figge Art Museum is beating the summer heat with a hot offer: free admission to the Davenport museum for the month of July.

Museum leaders are encouraging visitors to escape the scorching heat by immersing themselves in a world of art and experiencing all that the Figge has to offer.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Cal and Jill Werner, of Bettendorf, all visitors will gain free access to all the exhibitions on view. They include: Walter Wick: Hidden Wonders!, Illuminated Manuscripts from the Figge Collection, Reckonings and Reconstructions: Southern Photography from the Do Good Fund as well as the Figge’s permanent collection galleries.

“Art is a universal language that connects us all. We are committed to ensuring that art is accessible to everyone in our community, regardless of their background or means,” Figge Interim Executive Director Melissa Mohr said. “Thanks to the generosity of Cal and Jill Werner, we’re able to offer free admission to the Figge this July, welcoming visitors from all corners of our community.”

In addition, the Figge will offer a one-hour session of learning, exploring and creating for all ages during the “Big Picture in the House” sessions. These sessions are taught by Figge outreach educators and offered every Wednesday in July from 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. in the Figge’s Quad City Bank & Trust Grand Lobby. Registration is encouraged at www.figgeartmuseum.org.

Find the free art cart in selected galleries on Tuesdays and Fridays where a trained docent will have books, objects, gallery games and information for exploring art topics in new ways. Experience a free artist talk for families with Walter Wick on July 18 and a free tour of Hidden Wonders on July 25, both part of the Figge’s Thursday night programming. A detailed schedule of the evening programs can be found on the Figge website.

Free admission runs from Tuesday, July 2, through Wednesday, July 31.

Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Reservations are not required, but can be made at www.figgeartmuseum.org or by calling (563) 345-6632. Become a member for as little as $50 by visiting www.figgeartmuseum.org
