Three new inductees were recently named to the Empowering Abilities Hall of Fame.
The new Hall of Fame members are the Kerker family, Quad City Bank & Trust, and Carol Foster.
“This year’s Hall of Fame inductees represent the very best in our community. They are compassionate and generous, and they are strong advocates for the people we serve,” said Jeff Ashcraft, Empowering Abilities president and CEO. “We are so grateful for what they’ve done and what they continue to do on behalf of people with disabilities in this community,”
The Davenport-based organization’s Hall of Fame was established 30 years ago to recognize and honor individuals, volunteers, and organizations that have supported people with disabilities and positively impacted their lives in various ways.
Here is a look at the new Hall of Fame members:
- The Bev, Leo, and Kathy Kerker family: The Kerker family has supported many projects at Empowering Abilities, especially at the Residential Center, making it a welcoming and homey atmosphere for the residents who live there. “The Kerker family is a humble group of siblings and spouses who have made their parents, who are no longer living, proud with their generosity,” according to information from Empowering Abilities.
- Quad City Bank & Trust: The local bank was inducted because of its many philanthropic endeavors, its commitment to the community, and especially because of its support of Empowering Abilities. “In addition to sponsoring and participating in Empowering Abilities’ fundraising events, Quad City Bank & Trust has been a trusted advisor to help grow funds needed to ensure services are provided for many years to come,” Empowering Abilities said in a news release.
- Carol Foster: An Empowering Abilities employee of 41 years, Ms. Foster is this year’s third Hall of Fame inductee. Over the years, she has worked in nearly every department, finishing her career as the chief administration officer overseeing development, compliance, and human resources. “Her dedication to the mission, to the organization, and to the individuals served at Empowering Abilities has made her a valuable employee, a mentor, and a friend to many. These traits also make her a worthy recipient of this award,” according to information from Empowering Abilities, formerly HDC.
Since 1969, Empowering Abilities has advocated for and provided opportunities to individuals with disabilities, supporting them to lead their best life.
