The Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ Board of Trustees will meet three times this week, mainly to discuss the hiring of an interim chancellor for the district.

The meetings are scheduled for:

  • Monday, Sept. 18, an executive session at 4 p.m. on Zoom only.
  • Monday, Sept. 18, a regular meeting at 7 p.m. at SCC Belmont Campus, 500 Belmont Road in Riverdale.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 19, an executive session at 9:30 a.m. on Zoom only.

EICC officials told the QCBJ on Monday that no formal action regarding the interim chancellor will be taken during these meetings.

Sonya J. Williams resigned her job as chancellor of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges in August. The resignation was made official Tuesday night, Aug. 1, during a special meeting of the EICC Board of Trustees. The board unanimously accepted the resignation in a meeting that lasted about five minutes at the Scott Community College Urban Campus.

Ms. Williams began the job as chancellor on Aug. 8, 2022, with the philosophy “you have to think about other people,” she told the QCBJ last year. She was appointed EICC’s eighth chancellor in June of 2022 after an extensive national search.
