Crafty Cat art fest returns for the holidays to RiverCenter

It’s holiday craft fest time.

One of the biggest craft events in the region will be the Crafty Cat indie art festival on Dec. 10-11 in the Great Hall of the RiverCenter, Davenport. The event, once known as the OMG Beckyfest, will be open 5-8 p.m. Dec. 10 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 11.

“All the items (at Crafty Cat) will be created by local vendors,” said Mary Talbert, owner of Crafted QC, and event organizer. “We’re going to have furniture, jewelry and a lady who makes amazing clocks.”

Homemade craft items, much like this one, will be featured at the upcoming Crafty Cat art fest.

The event is expected to feature more than 100 vendors from across the region.

Ms. Talbert added that one of the unique aspects of the Crafty Cat event is it will help usher in a new generation of crafters. The fest will feature 16 young people who have their own booths selling handmade items that range from sewn cat toys, green cleaning products to paintings.

“The kids, with the help from their parents, learn to create their own small businesses,” said Ms. Talbert.

Some of the other festivities include:

  • Live acoustic music presented by the River Music Experience. The scheduled musicians will be: Alan Sweet 5-6:30 p.m. Dec. 10; Charlotte Blu 6:30-8 p.m. Dec. 10; Lewis Knudsen 1-2:30 p.m., Dec. 11; and Karl Beatty 2:30-4 p.m. Dec. 11.
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 11.
  • Concessions will be provided by the RiverCenter.

The entrance fee is a suggested $2 donation to the River Music Experience.
