Community Foundation welcomes new board members

The Quad Cities Community Foundation has added Quad Citians Linda Andry, Kristen Roberts and Laura Scott to its board of directors as well as making a series of recent staffing and administrative changes.

“Our community guides our work, and we are so grateful to these three regional leaders for their commitment to our mission,” Kent Pilcher, Community Foundation board chair, said in a news release. “Their time, energy, and vision will advance the cause of the Community Foundation. I’m incredibly proud to sit alongside them as we work to transform this region we all love.”

Here’s a look at the new board members:

  • Linda Andry, the CEO of Ascentra Credit Union, has been working in financial services for 38 years, beginning as a full-time teller at the former First National Bank of Moline. After nine years as a senior accountant with Bituminous Insurance (BITCO), she joined Ascentra as chief financial officer. She spent 15 years as CFO and, in April 2021, was named CEO.
  • Kristen Roberts is deeply committed to the work of nonprofits having held leadership positions with a diverse range of organizations, from community-based agencies to higher education institutions and membership groups. Prior to launching her consulting practice, Build to Bloom, Ms. Roberts served as the fraternal service and programs manager for Modern Woodmen of America, where she was responsible for the administration of programs and benefits.
  • Laura Scott is an experienced finance professional and CPA whose accounting career spans public accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial planning and budgeting, primarily for large corporations in the San Francisco Bay area. Most recently, she retired after 11 years as a financial advisor. Ms. Scott currently manages the business affairs for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. She previously served as chair of the Community Foundation’s audit committee.

Tom Thoms and Scott Tinsman have completed their terms on the board after many years of service.

“The Community Foundation board makes decisions to ensure this organization supports our region in the best possible way,” President and CEO Sue Hafkemeyer said in the release. “I’m so thankful for all that Tom and Scott have contributed to our organization. Their perspective and experience have been a vital guide for our mission and have left a powerful legacy.”

New officers include: Suresh Balakrishnan, treasurer; Cristy Tackett-Hunt will remain as secretary; John Anderson, vice chair, and Mr. Pilcher will continue as board chair. View the full board of directors here.

In addition, Maddi Haan has been promoted to accounting manager, where, in addition to her work reviewing and reconciling bank and investment accounts and funds, she will prepare financial reports and support management of the foundation’s database. Ms. Haan joined the Community Foundation in 2022.

Melanie Jones has been promoted to donor services manager. Ms. Jones joined the Community Foundation in 2015. She works closely with staff to engage donors and future donors in the act of charitable giving.

Kaleigh Trammell has been promoted to director of grantmaking and community initiatives. Since 2022, she has worked with nonprofit organizations and stewarded their applications for competitive grants, mentored young philanthropists through Teens for Tomorrow, and stewarded grantmaking for regional affiliates.

The Foundation also announced the retirements of Jenny Molyneaux and Luann Polissaint on Jan. 15 and Feb. 3, respectively.

Ms. Molyneaux joined the foundation as a volunteer in 2016 and was hired in 2017. As project manager, she used her expertise in database marketing to skillfully guide countless projects, bring together teams, and generate ideas to create an impact in the community.

Ms. Polissaint began as administrative assistant in 2020. With her organizational skills and welcoming personality, she has been the face and steady hand that ensured everything ran smoothly, the foundation said.
