Bethany for Children & Families is hosting an Open Home event on Friday, Dec. 8, to show off its new social service center at 1701 River Drive, downtown Moline.

The event, which is open to the public, will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bethany’s new offices on the second floor of the historic Caxton Block Building.

Visitors can tour the agency’s facility to learn how Bethany’s staff assist and uplift the area’s most vulnerable neighbors, meet staff and the board of directors and more. Information also will be available on how Quad Citizens can contribute to Bethany’s Capital Campaign which will kick off in 2024.

First announced in April, the new location helped the agency effectively consolidate its staff under one roof. Bethany’s previous headquarters was just blocks away at 1830 Sixth Ave.

At the time, the agency said it was renting space in other buildings in addition to its headquarters, and decided to unite its caseworkers, supervisors and educators, as well as its fund development, human resources and business personnel all in one location.

“For example, a caseworker who may have a new child in foster care can walk down the hall and enroll the child in (an) after-school program, request parenting programming for the biological parent and sign the child up for therapy services quickly in the new facility,” Bethany President and CEO Dr. Bill Steinhauser said in an April news release announcing the move.

Founded in 1899, Bethany for Children & Families is a nonprofit child welfare, mental health, community education and social services provider for children and families in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. With an assortment of 26 programs and services, the agency serves nearly 12,000 children and families annually.
