“We’ve had some people looking to get Christmas projects done before the inlaws come over for the holidays,” said Emily Lewis, marketing director of Veterans Choice Contracting LLC, during last weekend’s Davenport Fall Home Show.
Ms. Lewis was one of dozens of home repair and contracting business representatives on hand at the fall show, held at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds on the west end of Davenport.
The Friday through Sunday, Nov. 1.-3 show was presented by the Nationwide Expos organization. At least 40 exhibitors were scheduled to be there, showcasing a wide variety of services, according to Nationwide.
“Success is ensuring all our attendees leave with a grin on their faces, knowing they are saving thousands of dollars on all their home improvement projects. … Our goal is to invite and give the whole town a chance to save and gather ideas in all things home,” according to the Nationwide Expos website.
One of those looking at “all things home” on Saturday was Tony Saladino of Long Grove, Iowa. On Saturday morning, Nov. 2, the area man was busy talking about home projects at the Backyard Vinyl Co. table at the home show. That company, based in Maquoketa, Iowa, does fences, railings, gazebos and pergolas. The Long Grove man was interested in their work on backyard decks.
“We’re looking for a new deck, and looking for some ideas to maybe redo our bathroom in the spring,” said Mr. Saladino.
