
MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The Voy 61 Drive In Theatre, located just south of this community, will be opening for its 75th season on Friday, April 4.
The Voy 61 will be open Fridays and Saturdays. The movies “A Minecraft Movie” (PG) followed by “The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” will be the features for opening weekend.
The Voy 61 Drive In Theatre is one of only four drive-in theaters still operating across Iowa. It is noted for a grass field viewing area that allows patrons to bring along a radio and lawn chair and enjoy watching the movie.
Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for kids ages 4 to 14, and free admission for kids age 3 and under.
Voy 61 boasts a state-of-the-art digital projection system and provides a family-friendly environment with free train rides, swing set, sand box, basketball court, wiffleball diamond, tether ball, and volleyball. A concession stand also offers a large variety of treats and goodies.
Voy 61 is located five miles south of Maquoketa at 1228 U.S. 61, Exit 153.
