A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday.
“This is a dream come true. … Today is the beginning,” company Founder and Owner Heidi Huiskamp Collins said during the ceremony at the groundbreaking site, which is currently a 1.5-acre empty grassy field across the street from ImpactLife. If all goes according to plan, construction on the 5,300-square-foot building will begin today, April 8, and Huiskamp Collins Investments will move from its current home at 2209 Falcon Ave., Bettendorf, into the new office building by the end of this year.Ms. Huiskamp Collins was named to the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal’s Most Influential Leaders list in 2023. The honorees are chosen by readers of the QCBJ.“Building a permanent home for our team is such an important juncture in the business’s journey,” Ms. Huiskamp Collins said. “It represents a special way that we will be able to show up for our community, our employees and our clients, whom we consider to be our family. It is also the culmination of a dream I have had for many years of having a space dedicated to empowering women’s financial futures, serving them and the people they love.” Huiskamp Collins company leaders added that the new building site is perfect for the investment group as it will be located near Davenport’s ultra-busy 53rd Street and less than a mile from the current Bettendorf office location. The new building will offer the amenities to accommodate its growing team and expanding financial services. The new building will feature meeting spaces, staff collaboration areas, a seminar room and large bay windows. It also will have room to host educational seminars on various financial topics. This initiative underscores the company’s core value of education, especially for underrepresented communities and women, said Ms. Huiskamp Collins.“We’re working closely with Heidi and her team to develop a design that goes beyond the traditional office setting,” said Sameer Kulkarni, Bush Construction’s director of design. “You can expect a home-like atmosphere that fosters comfort and relaxation, ensuring that every client who walks through the doors feels welcomed and at ease.” He added that the new building will improve on the company’s “legacy of empowerment and progress.”The building also will have room for another business. Ms. Huiskamp Collins told the QCBJ that 900 square feet in the building will be reserved for a business tenant. She did not disclose the expected cost of the building project.During Friday’s ceremony, A.J. Loss, president of Bush Construction, thanked Ms. Huiskamp Collins for selecting Bush to be the business partner on the building project.“The new building will not only serve as a functional space for Huiskamp Collins, but will also stand as testament to their commitment to innovation and client satisfaction,” he added.Mr. Loss told the crowd Friday morning that unlike most ground-breaking events, there will not be much time between the dirt-turning ceremony and actual construction. If the weather cooperates, that work will begin as early as Monday, April 8, and the building could be complete this fall.
