UnityPoint Health has expanded its virtual care and virtual urgent care offerings to pediatric patients across the state of Iowa.

Parents with children, ages 2-17, who are unable to see a primary care provider or visit a walk-in clinic, may now consider virtual care options – SmartExam or virtual urgent care – for treatment of several common ailments and illness.

The new firtual care options for pediatric patients are currently only offered to Iowa residents. SmartExam and virtual urgent care are available every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through MyUnityPoint for patients.

All patients using SmartExam pay a flat $30 fee and answer questions about their symptoms through an intuitive online screening tool. They’ll then receive a diagnosis and treatment options from a trusted UnityPoint Health provider in less than an hour.

Through virtual urgent care, UnityPoint Health providers can diagnose, recommend treatment and prescribe medication when necessary for many common ailments and illnesses via video chat. Individuals, in Iowa, can request a virtual urgent care visit through MyUnityPoint. Some restrictions do apply for patients, ages 2-17.
