Grow Clinton commits $25K to Tailgate N’ Tallboys event

CLINTON, Iowa ā€“ A country music festival planned for this summer in Clinton is getting more financial support.

Grow Clinton, a tourism, community and economic development organization, has announced that it has invested $25,000 in the Tailgate Nā€™ Tallboys country music concert to become a Diamond Box sponsor for the event.

Tailgate Nā€™ Tallboys, set for June 8-10, will bring numerous country music acts to Clinton, including Tim McGraw and Jelly Roll.

“Grow Clinton is proud to be a Diamond Box sponsor for the 2023 Tailgate N’ Tallboys music festival in Clinton, Iowa,” said Lesley Webster, Grow Clintonā€™s director of placemaking and tourism. “Not only is this an excellent opportunity for our communities to enjoy top-rated entertainment, but we know it will serve as a tourist draw from states throughout the Midwest. We look forward to showing our visitors all that Clinton, Fulton, Camanche, and the surrounding areas offer.”

Utilizing the Economic Impact Calculator the Iowa Tourism Industry Partners provided, early estimates indicate a positive economic impact for the Clinton region of more than $6.5 million. These figures account for not only event ticket sales and hotels but also spending at gas stations, retail venues, and restaurants, Ms. Webster added.

The musical acts announced for the festival include:

  • June 8 ā€“Ā  Mitchell Tenpenny, Lainey Wilson, Jackson Dean and Cooper Alan.
  • June 9 ā€“ Tim McGraw, Jake Owen, Jo Dee Messina and Alexandra Kay.
  • June 10 ā€“ Jelly Roll, Chase Rice, Warren Zeiders and Chase Matthew.
  • The host will be Chelcie Lynn. The festival DJ is Cliffy D.

The music festival was approved earlier in 2022 by the Clinton City Council when it inked a contract with USA Concerts. The terms of the contract include:

  • The festival budget is set at $3 million each year. Clinton will pay half that cost, and the fest promoter ā€“ USA ConcertsĀ  ā€“ will pay the other half.
  • The contract is a co-promotion partnership between the city and USA Concerts. Expenses and profits will be shared equally between the two entities.
  • The initial contract is for three years, with the first two years of concerts guaranteed, and the third year will be optional to be agreed by both parties.
