Women and Heart Disease series focuses on signs, symptoms

The latest Heart to Heart Community Education Series focused on women’s health,  “Women and Heart Disease: Know the Signs and Symptoms,” is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the Jardine Auditorium at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, 2701 17th St.

Admission is free, but registration is required by going to this website. It will be presented by Dr. Alyas Chaudhry, Cardiac Surgery Associates.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, claiming the life of one woman every 80 seconds. During this presentation, Dr. Chaudhry will discuss the signs and symptoms of heart disease in women, which can be different from those in men.

“Heart disease remains the number one health threat in the U.S., killing one in three women,” says Dr. Chaudhry. “Many women may not know what to look for or where to go for care when symptoms begin. Many women delay seeking care and it can cost them their life.”
