WIU’s human resource program honored by Forbes

Western Illinois University has been recognized by Forbes Advisor as one of the top online programs in Human Resource Management. Western is ranked two on the Top 10 highest-ranked list for colleges and universities across the country.

WIU, with campuses in Macomb and Moline, was selected based on strict criteria from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The top list was selected by an advisory board made up of experts including experienced professionals and educators.

WIU’s Human Resource Management program is housed within the School of Management and Marketing. Its Bachelor of Business in Human Resource Management program offers a curriculum that aligns with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and an option to complete a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management through an integrated five-year program.

The program offers students the chance to gain hands-on experience with local organizations and agencies, consider study abroad opportunities, attend career fairs, and participate in internships. The curriculum includes general and business courses as well as HRM core courses and electives to help students develop their professional skills.

The program is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. In addition to the full program offered online, WIU offers enrollment in-person on both campuses.

WIU Interim President Kristi Mindrup believes bright things are in the college’s future.
