WIU, WQPT and StartNet co-host Ready to Learn Conference

Western Illinois University – in conjunction with WQPT PBS and Illinois StarNet Regions I and III – will host a Ready to Learn Conference for educators, caregivers and others on Saturday, April 29, WIU recently announced. 

The conference will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 29, on WIU’s Quad Cities campus on the Moline riverfront.  

“We are so excited to bring early care and education professionals, education students and families from all over the Quad Cities to share and connect about inclusive and developmentally appropriate early childhood learning experiences,” Lindsay Meeker, director of WIU’s Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood, said in a news release. “We have fantastic keynotes and breakouts, as well as super cool giveaways.”

The conference will include breakout sessions on early childhood education topics such as equity and access. The event’s aim is to equip educators, caregivers and others with knowledge and resources to foster enhanced outcomes for children of all ages, WIU said in a release.  

The conference also features keynote presentations by Ruth Spiro, author of the bestselling book “Baby Loves Science,” and Antoninette Taylor, speaking on Pre/K-12 Curriculum and Instruction, as well as educational vendors, community organizations. The conference includes breakfast and lunch. 

Professional development credits are available for applicable sessions from the Illinois State Board of Education, Gateways and Early Intervention.
