Given that about 40% of all U.S. jobs are supply chain-related Western Illinois University (WIU) and Black Hawk Region Pathways are hosting a 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, April 26 Supply Chain Management ConNEXT conference on Moline’s WIU Quad Cities campus.

The conference will allow area high school students to explore high-paying, in-demand careers in supply chain management and logistics.

“Students will learn that the supply chain field encompasses roles in purchasing, distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, transportation, inventory management and risk management,” WIU Assistant Professor Honey Zimmerman said in a news release. “We are excited to work with local employers to share these opportunities with high school students. We hope that by hearing from SCM professionals about their career paths and daily responsibilities, these high schoolers will get excited about the opportunities available in the Quad Cities region.”

There will be a series of four breakout sessions. Each will be led by a panel of industry professionals. Students will learn about different careers. Company representatives will discuss the types of careers available and the skills necessary to be successful.
