Veterans Day meals and deals in the Quad Cities

Free meals. Free haircuts. Free cups of coffee. Free fudge cake.

Those are some of the deals that Quad Cities veterans, members of the military and their families can take advantage of this Veterans Day – Friday, Nov. 11. 

Many businesses across the Quad Cities region are offering many deals and giveaways to thank veterans for their service. Here is a sampling of some of the Veterans Day deals:

  • Applebee’s Restaurants – Active-duty military, veterans, Reserves, and National Guard members receive a free meal when dining in – from a special menu – on Friday. Also when dining in, military guests will receive a $5 Bounce Back Card to redeem on Friday.
  • Bettendorf Transit – The city’s bus service is offering free fixed-route transit rides to all veterans the week of Nov. 7-12.
  • Casey’s General Stores – Service members, past and present, receive a free cup of coffee on Veterans Day.
  • Charleys Philly Steaks – Veterans and active-duty military get free Gourmet Fries in-store, no purchase necessary, on Friday.
  • Chili’s – Veterans and active-duty service members get a free meal from a select menu on Friday. Available for in-restaurant dining only.
  • Chuck E. Cheese – On Friday, active-duty military, National Guard and veterans get a free personal one-topping pizza with valid military ID or proof of military service. Not available for delivery.
  • Cracker Barrel – Veterans get a complimentary slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake in-store or online on Friday.
  • Dollar General – The chain is giving 20% off a total purchase in-store or online for veterans and active military and their family members. 
  • Famous Dave’s – Veterans and active-duty military get a free Lunch Georgia Chopped Pork Sandwich and choice of side on Veterans Day. When ordering online, use code ‘VETERAN’ to receive the discount. Must present valid proof of service at pickup. Not valid for call-in orders or delivery. 
  • Fareway Grocery Stores – Fareway store locations in a seven-state region will be offering a 15%  discount to veterans, retired, active-duty, reserve, and guard service members. To receive a discount, customers are asked to show their military ID at checkout or identify their branch of service. The offer excludes tobacco, lottery tickets, and gift cards. It is good only on Nov. 11.
  • Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers – Veterans and active military personnel who visit Friday will receive a free Freddy’s Original Double with Cheese combo meal card redeemable through Nov. 30.
  • Golden Corral Military Appreciation Night – Active and former military members will get a free “thank you” meal on Military Appreciation Night from  5 p.m. to close on Monday, Nov. 14.
  • Goodwill of the Heartland stores – The stores are offering a 20% discount all week for all active, reserve and veteran military members and their spouses.
  • Great Clips – On Friday, veterans and active service members can visit any Great Clips location and get either a free haircut or a free haircut card to use later. In addition, non-veteran customers who get a haircut on Veterans Day can pay it forward. They receive a free haircut card to give to an active service member or veteran as a token of thanks. Cards must be redeemed from Nov. 12 to Dec. 9.
  • Hooters – Active-duty military and veterans get a free entrée from the Hooters Veterans Day Menu with purchase of a beverage on Veterans Day. Dine-in only.
  • Hy-Vee stores – A free breakfast buffet is offered to all veterans and active duty military members at the stores.
  • Little Caesars – Little Caesars is offering a free four-piece Detroit-style deep dish pepperoni pizza and a 20-ounce Pepsi product for veterans and active military members, with proof of military service, at participating stores. Call to verify participation.
  • Lowe’s – The stores will offer all active, reserve, honorably discharged, retired military personnel and their immediate family members a 10% discount on in-store purchases upon joining its discount program. 
  • Mission BBQ – Veterans get a free sandwich on Friday.
  • Olive Garden – The restaurant is offering a free entrée from a special menu. Entrées are served with unlimited soup or house salad and garlic breadsticks for veterans and active-duty military. Proof of service required.
  • Pilot/Flying J  – The business  is offering one free breakfast combo, valid at participating U.S. Pilot and Flying J Travel Centers.
  • Putnam Museum and Science Center – Free admission for any current or retired member of the U.S. Armed Services on Veterans Day.
  • Red Lobster – The restaurant chain is offering veterans, active duty and reservists a free Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, fries and coleslaw.
  • Red Robin – Veterans and active-duty military get a free Red’s Tavern Double when dining in on Friday.
  • 7-Eleven – Veterans get a free quarter-pound Big Bite all-beef hot dog on Friday.
  • Staples – All active-duty military personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families receive a 25% discount. 
  • Starbucks –  Starbucks will offer a free tall (12-ounce) hot brewed coffee for veterans, military service members and military spouses on Friday. Starbucks is expanding this offer to include a free tall iced coffee.
  • Taco John’s – Veterans can receive a free small Beef #1 Combo Meal. No purchase is necessary, and no substitutions are permitted.
  • Target –  Military personnel and veterans get 10% off two separate purchases when they verify their military status from Oct. 30 and redeemable through Nov. 12 using the Target Circle offer.
  • Texas Roadhouse – Veterans and active-duty military receive a meal voucher on Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. These vouchers are good for dine- in or carry-out and can be used until May 30, 2023.
  • Village Inn – The restaurant  is offering a free V.I.B. breakfast for veterans and active-duty military.
