UnityPoint volunteers receive Governor’s Volunteer Awards

Governor's Volunteer Awards UnityPoint Health

Four UnityPoint Health volunteers received Governor’s Volunteer Awards from Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer at a recognition ceremony Wednesday, June 4, in Urbandale, Iowa.

Bill Jasper received a Length of Service Award for more than 21 years of volunteer work. He serves as a lobby ambassador at Trinity Bettendorf, greeting guests, escorting patients, and delivering floral arrangements.

William Johnson received an Individual Service Award for his service in the Trinity Bettendorf surgical waiting area. A retired veteran, Mr. Johnson has volunteered with UnityPoint Health for eight years. His duties included escorting patients, providing updates to families, and supporting team members during flu shot clinics and Friends of Trinity bake sales.

Helen Lammers received an Individual Service Award for seven years of volunteering in the Trinity Bettendorf gift shop. She welcomes visitors, manages sales and processes payments. She also assists with paperwork for flu shot clinics.

Julie Wulf received an Individual Service Award for eight years of volunteer service in the Trinity Bettendorf gift shop and floral department. She assists customers, processes sales, and ensures floral coolers are stocked.

More than 290 awards were presented. An estimated 96 Iowa communities are served by the honorees.

Their ‘remarkable’ impact

“Those being recognized are the people who invest in others without expecting anything in return – except, of course, for the fulfillment that comes from doing their part to give back to their community,” Ms. Reynolds said. “This collective impact is nothing short of remarkable.”

Tulisa Bollinger, manager of gift shops, volunteer services, and Friends of Trinity, said, “Our volunteers are the heart of UnityPoint Health. They give their time, compassion and energy to every person that enter our facility – and that makes a lasting difference.”
