United Way Quad Cities is gearing up for its Day of Caring on Thursday, Sept. 10, when it brings together workplace teams, families, and individuals for the region’s largest single day of hands-on community service.
Nonprofits across the bistate region are currently building volunteer projects, from indoor to outdoor projects, hands-on labor to skills-based support – all designed to help local nonprofits move their work forward. Project selection opens to the public Monday, Aug. 3, at unitedwayqc.org/dayofcaring.
“Day of Caring is one of the most powerful things we do all year – not because of any single project, but because of what it says about who we are as a community,” Ryan Sempf, United Way’s chief impact officer, said in a news release Wednesday, July 22. “When you see people show up for their neighbors on a single day, you understand why United is the Way we make good news happen. We want everyone in the Quad Cities to be part of that.”

For each Day of Caring, United Way Quad Cities recruits and vets nonprofit partners, matches volunteers to projects where they can make the greatest difference, and coordinates logistics that turn a single day of action into lasting community impact. Spots are expected to fill quickly once registration opens.
Day of Caring is part of the organization’s broader mission to align community partners and strengthen the systems behind learning, earning, and health across the region. Every volunteer hour is a direct investment in the Quad Cities.
Day of Caring is made possible through the generosity of United Way Quad Cities’ donors and corporate partners, whose support funds the event’s coordination, projects, and impact.
