TPC Deere Run has been selected the third best golf course in Illinois in the 2023 Golfers’ Choice awards, according to reviewers of the Silvis course – home to the John Deere Classic. The annual list of top 25 Best Illinois Golf Courses is generated by GolfPass from what it calls its “community of reviewers.” The news and information subscription service said it created the list after compiling and analyzing ratings and reviews submitted by members throughout the year. “We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combines it with a course's subcategory averages,” GolfPass says. “Courses must offer public access and have received at least two reviews in 2022 to be eligible for this year's list.”Only Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin, Illinois, and Ann Briar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois, came in ahead of the Silvis course designed by Weibring-Wolfard Golf Design in 2000. Deere Run’s No. 3 spot bests the course’s 12th place finish in 2021 and its 16th place in 2019.The premiere Quad Cities course also has done well with GolfPass readers at the national level. For example, it was listed No. 3 Best Golf Course for off-course amenities in the U.S. in 2022, and No. 6 for friendliest courses in the U.S. that same year. Many of the Quad Cities course reviewers for the 2023 ranking commented on the amenities, the views and especially the friendliness of Deere Run staff in their reviews. In addition, 96 out of 104 reviewers – or 96.5% – said they would recommend the course.
