A new clothing alterations shop recently opened in Davenport.
The Castle Alterations & Creations has opened in the Salons and Studios building at 400 Utica Ridge, Studio 134.
The business is a by-appointment shop that offers “alterations on clothing ranging from casual to special occasion as well as creating memorial items from sentimental fabrics,” according to Castle’s Facebook page.
Those “memorial” items include: “If you have materials that are important to you, they can be made into a physical item to hold the love and affection you have outside of those materials. Clothing from a loved one who has passed, baby clothes from your little one who isn’t so little now, or scraps from an important moment can all be made into something that is greater because of the sum of its parts,” according to information on Castle’s Facebook page.

The business is owned by Gracie McAvoy, an Illinois-based designer, seamstress and costumer. She has more than 10 years of sewing experience.
The Castle Alterations & Creations is open by appointment only. However, the shop is typically open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
