Tapestry Farms hosts open house on Thursday

Tapestry Farms will have an open house to celebrate its new office space – called The Cottage – from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. The open house will be on the historic Annie Wittenmyer campus in Davenport. The address is 2800 Eastern Ave., Building G.

Tapestry is a nonprofit organization that helps refugees resettle in the Quad Cities and operates an urban farm system to grow food in the area.

“We are incredibly thankful, as we are already experiencing how The Cottage is fostering community and improving the welcoming infrastructure for refugees in the Quad Cities,” according to the Tapestry Farms Facebook page.

The organization moved into its new office space a few weeks ago.

The open house will also feature treats from Blue Spruce Bakery. People attending the event are asked to park behind Building I on the Annie Wittenmyer campus.

During a recent interview with the OCBJ, Ann McGlynn, the founder and executive director of Tapestry Farms, announced plans for the organization to eventually move into a new headquarters at the currently vacant building at 814 W. Third St., Davenport. The building renovation project could take five years and cost $2 million, she added.
