Taming of the Slough searching for a few good volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help with the paddle, bike, and run courses at Taming of the Slough from 6:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 28, at Bass Street Landing in Moline.

Positions include set-up, assisting with race transitions and boat launch,  monitoring bikes and boats, and course marshals for the run.

River Action’s  2024 Taming of the Slough will celebrate 19 years of racing as well as increased participation on water trails and off-road (mountain bike) trails in the Quad Cities along the Sylvan Slough, Sylvan Island, and Arsenal Island riverfront.

Taming of the Slough is an adventure triathlon. Racers will canoe or kayak Sylvan Slough Island (2.5 miles), proceed to Sylvan Island for a challenging mountain-biking experience (five miles on single-track trails, 2.5 miles paved), and finish with a run on Arsenal Island (two miles).

Call (563) 322-2969 or go to https://www.riveraction.org/taming to volunteer or register for the race.
