Studio 483 Architects has appointed Veronica Tolander, a veteran public and private sector leader, as the new president of the Quad Cities-based architecture and design firm.
Studio 483, located in Downtown Rock Island, said the expanded leadership marks an important milestone in its continued evolution and growth. Ms. Tolander’s appointment was effective Tuesday, April 21.
“This leadership transition reflects a thoughtful step forward as the firm builds on its legacy of design excellence, strong client relationships, and community-focused work,” the firm said in a Wednesday, April 22, news release.
The firm’s founders, Greg Gowey and Jeff Dismer, will remain actively engaged as principals and will continue to lead design efforts and maintain the trusted relationships they have built with clients, the release said.
Ms. Tolander, a licensed architect and Certified Public Manager (CPM), most recently served as the director of the Iowa Department of Transportation Resources and Acquisitions Bureau, where she led multidisciplinary teams and drove operational improvements.
“Studio 483 has always been grounded in thoughtful, well-planned design and strong partnerships,” Mr. Gowey said. “This transition allows us to build on that foundation while expanding our leadership to support the firm’s future.”
The new president brings nearly two decades of architectural and leadership experience and is known for her strategic mindset and collaborative leadership style.
“I’m honored to join Studio 483 at such an exciting point in its journey,” Ms. Tolander said in the release. “I look forward to working alongside Greg, Jeff, and the entire team to build on the firm’s strong legacy while helping shape its next chapter.”
Studio 483 was established in 2015 when Gere Dismer Architects joined forces with Scholtz Gowey Gere Marolf (SGGM) Architects bringing together nearly 40 years of architectural expertise, and an architectural lineage which dates back to 1871. Today, the firm is focused on creating thoughtful, purposeful environments that reflect the needs of clients and communities.
“This transition is about strengthening the relationships that have made us successful,” Mr. Dismer said. “At Studio 483 Architects, we believe in building success together. Our clients will continue to work with the same team they trust, while benefiting from additional leadership that positions us for long-term growth.”
