Streamline Architects announced today it is moving its headquarters to the vacant and iconic old Moline Post Office located on the former site of John Deere’s early home.

In its Thursday, June 19, news release, Streamline said it is proud to announce its upcoming relocation from its space inside East Moline’s Rust Belt to a new office space it is creating at the 1800 River Drive location that is rich with local history and architectural significance.

The Beaux Arts-style building, built in 1910 at a cost of $157,000, embodies the architecture firm’s commitment to honoring the past while shaping the future through thoughtful, community-focused design, the release said.

The newly renovated space will serve as Streamline’s headquarters as the company continues to grow and invest in the Quad Cities.

“It will be an honor to work in a space that has held so much historical importance to the Quad Cities and City of Moline,” said Andrew Dasso, founder and principal architect at Streamline. “Being here, where John Deere once lived and where the city’s mail once moved, reminds us that design is always about people, legacy, and community.”

Streamline will own the building, Jessica Molacek, the firm’s director of marketing and brand creation, told the QCBJ today. That historic building was chosen “for its central location in the heart of the Quad Cities –  a perfect fit for our growing team and commitment to the area,” she said. “As architects, we love the architectural details throughout the building and the history behind it.”

More room to grow

Streamline was founded by Andrew Dasso in 2015 as a one-person firm in downtown Davenport. It had expanded to a team of four by 2017 “and now, a decade later in 2025, we’ve grown to around 25 employees with headquarters here and a hub office in Iowa City,” Ms. Molacek said. “This new space not only fits who we are today, it gives us space to keep growing.”

The building, which had served as a post office until 1935 when mail services moved to 17th Street and Sixth Avenue, also previously housed the National Guard, Montgomery Elevator, and insurance firms. In an earlier post the firm made on its Facebook page prior to today’s announcement Streamline said that the building now “sits vacant, waiting for its next chapter …”

With its upcoming move to the heart of the Quad Cities, Streamline said it aims to establish a more visible presence after years in a more tucked-away space. But the relocation is about more than visibility, its news release said. It reflects the firm’s ongoing growth and evolution.

According to the release, as staff settles into their “new, high-profile location, they’ll bring with them the collaborative, people-first culture that defines their work. This new space marks an exciting chapter, one designed to support their expanding team and continued impact.”

The full-service design firm specializes in architecture, master planning, interior design, and graphic design projects in the Quad Cities, Iowa City, and throughout the country.

According to Renew Moline’s website, the Beaux Arts-style Post Office building first served the public until 1935 when U.S. Postal Services moved to a new Moline building, where it still is located today.

Willis of Illinois, Inc. purchased the building in 2009. The company used the postal entry lobby as a welcoming reception area for their insurance business. It also previously housed the offices of USI Insurance Services LLC.
