Share ideas for memorable Bettendorf ZIP day

It will happen only once in a century for a community, if it happens at all.

It’s “Date meets ZIP,” when the calendar date matches a local ZIP code.

And this year, Bettendorf will be celebrating its 52722 ZIP with a community-wide party on Friday, 5-27-22.

To that end, the city is looking for ideas on how to mark the occasion. Mayor Bob Gallagher went on social media on Jan. 14 to ask residents to submit ideas to 52722party@bettendorf.org.

“We are looking at a large celebration,” he said, mentioning possible ideas such as food festivals, pub crawls, bags tournaments, possibly a 5K race. “We’re looking for all kinds of ideas to make this a great celebration.”

He said festivities would be spread throughout the community and that the city would be committing financial resources to the effort.
