Safely dispose of your unwanted medications Saturday

Unwanted medications will be collected for the DEA National Drug Take Back Day

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department and other area law enforcement will participate this weekend in the DEA National Drug Take Back Day for unwanted medications. 

Quad Citians with unwanted prescriptions, vaping devices and other old medications are asked to safely dispose of them by bringing them to a Take Back location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 22. 

Residents can drop off unwanted items at these locations: 

  • Colona Police Department, 215 First St., Colona. 
  • East Moline Police Department, 915 16th Ave., East Moline.
  • Milan Police Department, 405 First St. E., Milan.
  • Moline Police Department, 1640 Sixth Ave., Moline. 
  • Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Island County Justice Center, 1317 3rd Ave., Rock Island, and Cordova District Library, 402 Main Ave., Cordova. 
  • Silvis Police Department, 600 Illini Drive, Silvis. 

The local departments are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on the national collection. 

At the previous Drug Take Back Day last October, a total of 4,340 law enforcement agencies hosted 4,902 collection sites, taking back 324 tons of unwanted materials. Since the national take back program began, a total of 8,318 tons of unwanted medications have been collected.
