Russell, the Davenport-based construction and development company, has been chosen as an honoree in the 2022 Best Culture Awards presented by Kudos, a global employee engagement firm.
The Calgary, Alberta-based Kudos named Russell as one of 32 honorees worldwide in the awards program, now in its second year.
In a news release Tuesday, Nov. 15, Kudos said the organizations were selected based on demonstrated commitment to creating great workplace cultures through efforts to improve employee recognition, employee engagement and overall employee experience.
Russell, a Quad Cities firm founded by Jim Russell, was among 11 companies to be named as Culture Leaders while 21 companies won honors as Culture Innovators. The 2022 Best Culture winners included organizations such as African telecom giant MTN, Uvalde Memorial Hospital, Lego Group and Meals on Wheels America.
"Appreciating our people is hardwired into the Russell culture. As our company continues to grow across three offices (Kansas City, Quad Cities, and St. Louis) we understand the importance of incorporating innovative tools like Kudos into our people-first strategy for recruiting and retaining top talent,” Lea Ann Dies, Russell’s director of People and Culture, told the QCBJ.
“Utilizing Kudos has played a significant role in making all Russell team members working on projects across the country feel connected to our culture and valued as a member of the team," she added.
Kudos, founded in 2007, is an internal employee engagement system designed to connect and recognize employees. The cloud-based employee recognition platform and mobile application are used in more than 80 countries on six continents.
In 2011, the Canadian company officially began its mission to Change the World one “Thank You” at a time. It is led by Muni Boga, who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology to advance the human experience.
“Congratulations to Russell,” Mr. Boga, Kudos president and CEO, said in a news release announcing the Best Culture Awards. “As a Culture Leader, Russell has demonstrated success in building a strong and distinct workplace culture founded on their organization’s mission, vision and values. Their investments in people analytics, strategic employee recognition and culture initiatives have made a quantifiable difference in employee engagement and organizational performance. We wanted to honor their achievements.”
He added: “There’s no denying the unprecedented challenges HR Leaders have faced in the last few years. The challenges persist, and organizations are now navigating massive shifts in work environments and a competitive war on talent. This year’s award-winners are truly at the top of their game, putting people and culture first with tools like Kudos to support their organizational goals; the results that they are seeing are remarkable.”
