River Action’s Taming of the Slough triathlon set for Sept. 13

    River Action’s 20th annual Taming of the Slough Adventure Triathlon is set to take place Saturday, Sept. 13. This popular multi-sport event challenges participants with a paddle, mountain bike, and run course.

    Early bird registration is available for $35 through Friday, Sept. 12. Interested participants can register now.

    The race offers various entry options, including individual competition, 2-person teams, 3-person relay teams, and a Corporate Challenge.

    The course begins with a 2.5-mile out-and-back paddle through the Sylvan Slough in Moline. Following the paddle, participants will mountain bike 7.5 miles, which includes two laps on Sylvan Island’s single-track trails. The race concludes with a 2-mile run over the I-74 bridge.

    All transitions for the triathlon will occur at the Bass Street YMCA on the Moline riverfront.
