River Action’s Mississippi River adventure race, the Taming of the Slough will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, in downtown Moline, at the Bass Street YMCA and Sylvan Boathouse.
This adventure race can be done individually or as a team. It includes canoe or kayak 2.8 miles, mountain bike on single-track trails 7.5 miles and run two miles.
The paddling is 2.8 miles in Sylvan Slough, the mountain bike leg continues onto Sylvan Island, the run heads to Arsenal Island for 2 miles on the riverfront trail, and the finish is at Bass Street Landing where there is a post race party.
