Bix 7 race

The Quad-City Times Bix 7 has opened registration for its 50th annual race on July 27, 2024.

Race weekend festivities include the seven-mile race, the Prairie Farms Quick Bix two-mile, the Arconic Junior Bix (for ages 12 and under) and the Genesis Sports Medicine Brady Street Sprints.

Those interested in participating in the milestone edition of the event should visit Bix7.com to register now.

“It’s clear from the enthusiasm that we’re seeing with months still to go ‘til race weekend: our 50th is kind of a big deal,” Race Director Michelle Juehring said in a news release. “As we continue to plan all the special details for this golden year, we’re thrilled to give folks the golden ticket to sign up now.”

By registering early, participants are guaranteed the lowest entry fee. Participants will receive a commemorative 50th annual finisher’s medal. They also get a race shirt, poster, opportunity for a personalized bib, anniversary pins, live music along the course and the biggest WalMart post-race party.

The seven-mile race will be the main event, featuring a historic out-and-back race through downtown Davenport. It starts at the base of Brady Street Hill. The course will be lined with live bands and cheering crowds.

Walkers join top athletes

Recreational runners and walkers will toe the line alongside top athletes. The Bix 7 will be one of eight National Championships for the Road Runners Club of America in 2024. It is part of the Professional Road Running Organization Circuit, both drawing competitive fields of elite runners to the event.

Participants of all levels can compete for prize money and awards in the Caesars Sportsbook Team Challenge, Premier Buick GMC Dealers High School Challenge and First Responders’ Challenge, Russell’s Beat the Elite, and the Scott County Regional Authority’s All-City Challenge.

When race day draws near, participants can log training miles with hundreds of other runners at the Iowa American Water Bix @ 6 training runs. The group runs begin at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, kicking off in mid-June.

The 50th annual Quad-City Times Bix 7 will continue its tradition of giving back to the community. Its charity partner for 2024 is Genesis Outpatient Pediatric Therapy (GOPEDS). Dollars raised will help GOPEDS therapists to provide physical, speech and occupational therapy for children in the Quad Cities.
