Register now for BBBS Putt-A-Round

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley (BBBSMV) is lining up participants for its 17th Putt-A-Round to be held Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 8-10, at the RiverCenter in downtown Davenport.

Registration is currently open for the BBBSMV Putt-A-Round, presented by Quad-City Area Realtors and Malik J. Khaliq, Khaliq Group of Wells Fargo Advisors.

This one-of-a-kind community fundraiser is set up as an indoor miniature golf course with different shift times available for adults to sign up for in teams.

“We will host and connect with over 1,500 people throughout the week at Putt-A-Round,” Kayla Kiesey, BBBSMV director of events and community partnerships, said. “Teams are comprised of adults who are co-workers, friends, family members, neighbors or members of a local club, like the Davenport Noon Optimist Club or Jaycees.”

The cost is $30 per person or $120 for a team of four people. Attendees are encouraged to register for one of the seven shifts by Friday, Jan. 13, to be entered to win two team prize giveaways, sponsored by the Team Recruitment Sponsor, Great Southern Bank.

The final registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 3.

Putt-A-Round will kick off on Tuesday, Feb. 7, with a special shift for only active Bigs and their Littles and families. More than 200 people are expected to attend the special kick-off sponsored by Community Health Care.

“Match Night is something to behold,” said Jay Justin, the nonprofit’s CEO. “Miniature golf has been around for years that people of all ages can play and bond over in a social and fun environment.”

Following the private kick-off, public play will begin. The three-day schedule includes shifts on:

Wednesday, Feb. 8; 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 9; 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Friday  Feb. 10; 11:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

As always, area businesses and organizations custom design and build fantastic holes for participants to test their skills, have fun, win prizes and raise dollars for one-to-one mentoring in the Quad Cities.

Over the years, Putt-Around has evolved into a big tradition for hundreds of adults with more than 20 holes and challenges that offer unique putting challenges and friendly competitions. The “truly remarkable” holes are designed and crafted by local businesses.

“There is nothing else like this in the QCA with unbelievable innovation and collaboration,” said Ms. Kiesey.

Among the hole designers is Davenport-based Estes Construction. “Estes leverages our younger project engineers to design and construct our hole and it serves as a great platform for our younger employees to be introduced to the Estes culture of giving back to the communities that we live and work in,” said Jim Kiesey, Estes’ senior operations director and Ms. Kiesey’s husband.

In addition to playing each hole, attendees can enjoy entertainment from Prestige Productions, delicious appetizers from local establishments and refreshing beverages from the cash bar at the Epic Stone Clubhouse (or using the high top tables sponsored by Green Family Auto) while networking with others.

There also will be door prizes, sponsored by Van Meter, with tickets available on check-in. Attendees also can obtain a raffle ticket pack, sponsored by Eye Surgeons Associates, to participate in additional contests and drawings. There also will be a new bullseye challenge sponsored by Northwest Bank & Trust and the chance to capture your team’s participation at the Quad Cities Business Journal photo station.

In addition, those that make a “hole in one” can enter the Grandview Farms Hole-in-One giveaway. To get involved in this once a year opportunity, go to www.puttaround.org for further details and a link to register.
