The Davenport-based Tri-City Group has been acquired by Quanta Services, a leading specialized contracting company providing fully integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance services for electric power, renewable energy, and underground utility infrastructure.
Tri-City Group is a family of contractors and engineering companies specializing in electrical construction, technology solutions, and industrial services.
“We are excited to share that Tri-City Group has become part of Quanta Services, the largest specialty contractor in North America. Joining Quanta is a natural next step in Tri-City’s evolution. Quanta shares our deep commitment to craft excellence, safety, and providing confidence delivered to our customers,” according to a statement from Lori Rochholz, director of marketing for the Tr-City Group, sent to the QCBJ Thursday afternoon, April 2.
That statement adds: “Tri-City Group will continue to operate as Tri-City Group. Our name is not changing. Our brand is not changing. The Palmer Family and the leadership team that has guided this company will continue to lead it, and the dedicated professionals who have built Tri-City’s reputation will remain the foundation of everything we do. For our customers, this means the same people, the same quality, and the same responsiveness you have always known — now backed by the resources and reach of a world-class organization.”
In February, Quanta officials announced the acquisition of the Tri-City Group in a quarterly financial statement for the Houston, Texas-based company.
Company officials said the deal for the Tri-City Group – along with the acquisitions of the Wilson Construction Co. of Oregon and the Billings Flying Service of Montana – were made in the fourth quarter of 2025.
“During the quarter, we welcomed Tri-City, Wilson, and Billings to the Quanta family. Tri-City and Wilson are premier electrical infrastructure services providers with long track records of excellence, and together they broaden our craft-skilled platform to deliver critical-path solutions for load center facilities and electric utility programs across key regions of the country. These acquisitions reinforce our commitment to investing in talent and capabilities that advance our strategic priorities while capitalizing on growing customer demand,” said Duke Austin, president and CEO of Quanta Services, in a news release.
Quanta Services employs about 69,000 people, according to the company.
Thursday’s statement from the Tri-City Group adds: “Our commitment to the Quad Cities community is unchanged. The Quad Cities has been our home since 1895, and it will remain our home. We will continue to invest in the people, partnerships, and organizations that make this region strong — just as we always have. We are proud of what Tri-City has built together over 131 years, and we are grateful to our employees, customers, and community for being part of this story. The next chapter begins with the same values that started it all.”
The Tri-City Group name was introduced in 2024 with the rebranding of the award-winning family of Tri-City businesses under one brand to more fully reflect its wide breadth of services and capabilities.
The rebranded Tri-City Group family – formerly known as Tri-City Electric and its affiliated companies – include: Tri-City Electric, Tri-City Power Testing Solutions, Tri-City Engineering & Integration, Tri-City Renewable Energy, Tri-City Technologies, Tri-City Drone Services, Tri-City Ironworks, Tri-City Fire Protection, Tri-City Automated Solutions and Paramount Millwright Services.
In recent years, Tri-City Group has added Treiber Construction Company, Industrial Steel Erectors and B&B Masonry and Restoration to its family of businesses.
With more than 2,800 employees, Tri-City has contributed to projects in 46 states, two U.S. territories and six countries.
