The Quad Cities Area Family Fair – a resource for families with special needs – will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Veterans Memorial Park Pavilion in Bettendorf.
The fair is sponsored by IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union and co-hosted by Hand in Hand and GiGi’s Playhouse. It will feature more than 20 vendors including resources and information about fall programs, volunteer opportunities, adaptive sports and recreational programs, therapeutic programs and activities, inclusive young adult activities, and more.
The event is free to attend and is for all families and individuals of all ages and abilities.
The Family Fair is a one-stop shop of resources for families with special needs. Participating vendors to date include: Hand in Hand; GiGi’s Playhouse; Amity Point, LLC; Augustana College Roseman Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing, Autistic and Loved, LLC; Brain Injury Alliance, Quad Cities Chapter; Caravel Autism Health; Child Care Resource and Referral; Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois; Community Health Care; Davenport Challenger League; Davenport Parks and Recreation; Empowering Abilities; Epilepsy Advocacy Network; Family Resources; Genesis Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Center; Individual Advocacy Group; Legacy Dog Therapy; Putnam Museum and Science Center; Quad Cities Sled Hockey Association; SAL Community Services; Scott County Special Olympics; and Wellpoint Iowa.
The fair’s goal is to bring awareness to the many resources the Quad Cities has to offer in one convenient location. It is a great opportunity for busy parents to visit many Quad Cities organizations in one morning.
A free music therapy class will be offered by Quad Cities Music Therapy at 10 a.m. on the stage.
