real estate symposium

The Quad Cities Regional Business Journal will explore current trends in the region’s real estate landscape – such as notable property deals, new developments and a market forecast – when it hosts the second annual Commercial Real Estate Symposium.

The QCBJ event, open to all business leaders including those involved in any sector of the commercial development and real estate industries, is 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center in downtown Bettendorf.

The luncheon program will include a commercial market overview by Thad DenHartog, managing broker and principal at Mel Foster Commercial Real Estate Services, and a panel discussion by Quad Cities area developers. He also delivered the keynote at the inaugural 2022 QCBJ event.

The symposium is sponsored by Mel Foster Commercial Real Estate Services, Valley Commercial Construction, Russell, American Bank & Trust, and GreenState Credit Union.

The panel discussion will feature these speakers:

  • Mike Whalen, president and CEO, Heart of America Group, Moline.
  • Caitlin Russell, president, Russell, Davenport.
  • Kevin Koellner, manager, Focus Real Estate Development, Bettendorf.
  • Dan Huber, co-owner and CEO, Frontier Hospitality Group, Bettendorf.

Paul Rumler, the former president and CEO of the Quad Cities Chamber, will serve as the panel moderator. Mr. Rumler now is CEO/executive vice president of CCIM Institute, Chicago, which has educated commercial real estate professionals across multiple continents and industry categories since it was founded 50 years ago.

“We are excited to have this event again this year especially with the dramatic increase in interest rates,” said John Lohman, CEO and president of the Corridor Media Group, which publishes the QCBJ and the Corridor Business Journal. “These experts and industry leaders will be able to share what’s happening in commercial real estate and where they see the biggest challenges and opportunities.”

Tickets are $65 per person, $480 for a table of eight if purchased before Oct. 19. On or after Oct. 19, tickets will be $75 or $600 for a table of eight. The Waterfront is located at 2021 State St., Bettendorf.
