QCBJ hosts 2022 Commercial Real Estate Symposium

Join the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal to learn about the current real estate landscape – including notable real estate deals, developments and market forecasts – at the QCBJ’s Commercial Real Estate Symposium

The inaugural event, presented by Platinum Sponsor Mel Foster Co. along with sponsors GreenState Credit Union and Russell, will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Bend XPO in East Moline.

The symposium’s keynote speaker will be Thad DenHartog, managing broker and principal at Mel Foster Commercial Real Estate Services. He will present “A Quad City Commercial Real Estate Update: How we got here and where we are heading.”

“My presentation will be focused on the challenges and opportunities in the Commercial Real Estate market in the region, and I will provide a frank assessment on where I see things headed into 2023 with the rising interest rate environment,” said Mr. DenHartog.

In addition, the symposium will feature a panel of city administrators and managers discussing major developments in their communities including new investments in their downtowns.

The speakers will include:

Douglas Maxeiner, City of East Moline, city administrator.

Decker Ploehn, City of Bettendorf, city administrator.

Corri Spiegel, City of Davenport, city administrator.

Todd Thompson, City of Rock Island, new city manager.

Bob Vitas, City of Moline, city administrator.

“During our business plan development in the Quad Cities, we were encouraged to create an independent Commercial Real Estate event similar to what we have done in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City market for the past 15 years,” Corridor Media Group Publisher John Lohman said of the inaugural QCBJ event.

The QCBJ is a new publication of the North Liberty, Iowa-based Corridor Media Group. It also is sister to the Corridor Business Journal, which covers the Iowa City-Coralville-Cedar Rapids corridor.

“Anyone who is interested in commercial real estate and how it impacts the regional economy will walk away with insight from some of the region’s commercial real estate leaders,” Mr. Lohman added.

Tickets are $60 per person, $580 for a table of 10. The event includes lunch. The Bend XPO is located at 922 Mississippi Parkway and is part of The Bend riverfront development.
