QC Flood Resiliency Alliance meeting is Thursday

In conjunction with its annual Eddy Awards, River Action is offering Eddy Scholarships to students with a commitment to environmental interests.

River Action will present the third quarterly Quad City Flood Resiliency Alliance Meeting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, at the R. Richard Bittner Downtown YMCA, 630 E. Fourth St., Davenport.

Local flooding affects the entire area, organizers said in a news release, encouraging the community to attend the meeting which will plan future flood mitigation for the Quad Cities.

The meeting will include an introduction and an overview of topics by River Action Executive Director Kathy Wine, followed by presentations on an incentive program through FEMA with Northeast Illinois Floodplain Program Manager Marilyn Sucoe, “Wastewater Flows” with Davenport Water Pollution Control Plant Manager Dan Miers, and “Be Ready QC” with Emergency Management Planning Specialist Jim Hawkes with the Scott County Emergency Management Agency.
