The Quad Cities Community Foundation will host a free estate planning seminar at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, at the foundation, 852 Middle Road, Suite 100, Bettendorf.

The event, which is part of the Community Foundation’s Learning Series, will feature Johni Hays, executive vice president of Thompson & Associates, who will present Estate Planning for Each Stage of Life.

According to Ms. Hayes, estate planning should be a continual process. “The will should not be a static document,” she said, in a news release. “Our plans can and should change as life changes, and those plans should always reflect our values.”

Ms. Hays has presented across the country on estate and charitable planning, probate, living wills, annuities, life insurance, retirement planning and IRAs, as well as income, estate and gift taxation, the release states.

“Often, people just need that first nudge,” she said. “A comfortable opportunity where they can ask questions and get started with their planning. That’s what this seminar will be.”

The presentation will cover what should be included in your estate plan, how those plans differ depending on your stage of life, which assets are included in an estate and the four critical legal documents required for a comprehensive estate plan, according to a news release.
