Jack Cullen, executive director of the Rock Island Downtown Alliance, has earned the certified leader in place management designation from the International Downtown Association.
The certification recognizes professionals who demonstrate proficiency in managing and leading place management organizations. To earn the credential, Mr. Cullen met eligibility requirements, passed a rigorous examination and pledged to uphold the association’s code of ethics.
“Having worked with Jack over the last three years, I have witnessed firsthand his dedication, innovation, discipline and effectiveness in advancing the objective of the Rock Island Downtown Alliance to reinvigorate the city’s downtown,” said Raja Krishnamurthy, chair of the Downtown Alliance Board of Directors and a strategy and IT executive at Royal Neighbors of America. “Jack’s ability to lead with influence and build consensus across diverse groups has resulted in meaningful progress, and this designation from the IDA further exemplifies his commitment to driving positive change for Downtown Rock Island.”
The certification exam covers seven core domains of professional practice, including leadership development, economic development, public space management, and marketing.
The Rock Island Downtown Alliance, an affiliate of the Quad Cities Chamber, formed in 2023 to support the city’s downtown district through public and private sector partnerships.
